Preschoolers 4 - 5 years
Being read to and sharing rhymes and songs lays the foundation for the literacy and language skills which your child will need when they start school.
Start identifying letters and sounds with your child. Talk about the stories; ask them to predict what might happen next. Listen to stories on CD. Make stories a part of each day, at scheduled and impromptu times.
If your child grows up in a book rich environment they are more likely to associate reading with pleasure and to become successful readers themselves once they start school.
