Workshops for parents
Two types of literacy workshops specifically designed for parents and their babies are available:
Baby Book Time Workshops
Baby Book time workshops are specifically designed for parents and their babies, 2 years and under.
The program is designed to give parents an opportunity to share and experience the love of reading with their baby. The program will also give parents practical ideas for using stories, rhymes, songs and music to help babies develop early literacy skills.
- Workshops run for a series of four weeks
- Each session runs for 30 minutes
- Sessions are followed by light refreshments
- Sessions provide an opportunity to meet other new parents
- Sessions are limited to nine babies.
Additional Workshops
Many libraries offer additional drop-in, fun activities for under 3’s, with stories, songs, music and finger plays.
These programs are for those who have attended our Ten Minutes a Day – Baby Book Time program and are looking for something more, and for those with active toddlers not yet ready for a more structured storytime.
